The Solar Homes battery rebate gives eligible Victorian households a discount on the upfront cost of installing a solar battery. It is separate from the VEU program and is designed to help homes store solar energy for use after the sun goes down.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, you usually need to own your home, have an existing solar panel system of a certain size, be in an eligible postcode and have a household income below the program threshold. The program rules are updated over time, so we always check the current requirements before quoting.
Do you need solar panels first?
Yes. A battery stores energy your solar panels generate, so you need a solar system installed to make use of a battery. In many cases, the battery rebate is also only available when installed alongside or after solar. If you already have solar, we can add a battery. If not, we can quote both together.
How is the rebate applied?
The Solar Homes battery rebate is typically applied as a discount on your invoice by an approved solar retailer. Greener Upgrade is a NETCC approved seller and can guide you through the eligibility check and application process.
Which batteries can be installed?
The program maintains a list of approved batteries. We supply and install a range of approved home batteries. Visit our battery storage page to learn more.
