Do I Need Solar Panels to Install a Battery?

Yes. A battery stores electricity, and to make it useful and cost-effective, it needs a source of electricity to charge it. Solar panels are the best source because they generate free power during the day that would otherwise be exported to the grid for a small feed-in tariff.

Why solar + battery works better than battery alone

Without solar, a battery would have to charge from the grid at retail prices, which usually costs more than the value you get back. With solar, the battery charges with free energy you generate yourself, so every unit you use at night is energy you did not have to buy.

Rebate eligibility

To be eligible for the Victorian Solar Homes battery rebate, you generally need to have an existing solar system of a certain size. If you do not have solar yet, we can design a combined solar and battery system and apply the rebates you are eligible for.

What if you already have solar?

If you already have a solar system, adding a battery is often straightforward. We check your inverter, switchboard and roof space to recommend a compatible battery and backup options if you want them.
